Colorado Promising Partnership Practices Webinar: Spotlights, resources, and modifying practices for your community

This webinar is made possible with support from the National Center for Families Learning and the U.S. Department of Education.

Join Colorado Education Initiative (CEI), the Colorado Department of Education's (CDE) Office of Family, School, and Community Partnerships, and the Colorado Family Engagement Collaborative (CFEC) on September 18 for this free, virtual opportunity.

This webinar will explore promising practices in family partnerships and is designed for teachers, school staff, community organizations, and parents and caregivers who want to build stronger partnerships between their families, schools, and communities.

Leaders from Colorado school districts representing urban, rural, and suburban communities will share their success stories in working with families and community organizations to build collaborative partnerships. Participants will learn about:

  • Five promising practices from Colorado communities selected by CDE to share their guidance.

  • How each promising practice was created, its impact, and evolution.

  • How to adapt and implement actionable strategies to meet the unique needs of their communities.

Colorado Promising Partnership Presentations Include:

  • Escuela para padres, Gabby Alvarez, Durango School District

    • Hear how Durango School District improved parental involvement and communication and addressed language and cultural barriers to support Spanish-speaking families to better understand school resources and the education system.

  • Collaborating with the Public Library, María Elena Thomas, Poudre School District

    • Hear how Poudre School District helped parents navigate and connect with the public library to support their children’s literacy at home.

  • YouthPower365 Middle School, Kaitlyn Merriman, Eagle County School District

    • Hear how YouthPower365 in the Vail Valley Foundation listened to students’ interests and created engaging culinary clubs during after-school time.

  • The Big Three (TB3) Community Student Learning Bingo, Lisa Denton, Sonia Varela, Korey Stites, Jeffco Public Schools

    • Learn how Jeffco created community bingo cards that engaged community members, students, and parents and celebrated with a large community co-created event.

  • Communication Systems at Cimarron, Chris Zimmerman, Jessica Ranalletta, Douglas County School District

    • Learn how Cimarron Middle School in Parker, Colorado strengthened parent and school communication through interpersonal connection, ongoing structures, and systematic improvements.
